When
most people hear the word Zanzibar, they think Spice
Island, that tropical paradise east of Tanzania
in the Indian Ocean. Indeed, they would be right.
This beautiful paradise appears today as it did
more than a century ago when it was discovered.
You can walk down the streets and alleys of Stone
Town, a world heritage site, and feel as though
you’ve been lost in time. Zanzibar is an island
only 50 miles long but full of variety. You can
visit the ruins of the palaces created by the Sultans
of Oman or tour the breathtaking coast and swim
with the dolphins. Once the Eastern gateway to Africa,
Zanzibar is the home to Jozani forest, home to rare
red Colobus Monkeys. Also visit the famed Prison
Island, known for its Giant Tortoises, or go swimming
with the dolphins of kimikazi. And of course, it
is also known as the island of paradise because
of its miles and miles of unspoilt beaches dotted
with fishing villages and hand-hewn fishing boats.
The very best beaches of Zanzibar lie along the North Coast and Kendwa, near the northern tip of
the island where we are located.
Zanzibar’ s coastline is mainly a shallow slope
allowing lush coral build ups and providing a natural
home for thousands of marine life. Because of
its location, Zanzibar enjoys warm currents almost
year-round and so is an ideal location to put up
your feet and relax after a long safari, or lose
yourself in your own private getaway. Come and discover
the treasures of Zanzibar, and as the locals will
say, “Karibu Zanzibar!” |
